モデル・斉藤アリスが英語と日本語で東京を案内！ 渓谷を望める奥多摩の喫茶店〈絶景カフェ ぽっぽ〉へ。絶景を眺めながらいただくコーヒーは絶品！／Alice’s TOKYO Walk vol.45 LEARN 2019.11.01

夏の暑さも和らぎ、だいぶ過ごしやすくなってきた10月。紅葉など景色の移り変わりが楽しみな季節ですね。都心から日帰りで行けて、大自然を感じられるカフェをご紹介します。

The summer heat subside and it becomes comfortable outside in October. Everyone looks forward to the autumn colors and the change in scenery. I would like to introduce a cafe surrounded by nature that is only daytrip away from central Tokyo.

やってきたのは、東京西部に広がる多摩川の源流域・奥多摩。そのなかでも随一の美しい渓谷といわれるのが、鳩ノ巣渓谷。その断崖に建つカフェです。

I came to the western part of Tokyo, where Tama river starts. One of the most beautiful valleys there is called Hatonosu Valley. The cafe is located on the edge of a cliff.

ご覧の通り、渓谷側は全面ガラス張り。紅葉は11月中旬からで、目前は楢木で真っ黄色に、サイドは紅葉で真っ赤に染まるそうです。

As you can see, the sides of the cafe facing the valley is all glass. The best time to see autumn leaves is the middle of November. The elm trees in front of you become bright yellow and the trees on the side turn a deep red.

カフェは約40mの断崖の上に建っていて、その下には多摩川の清流が流れています。都心から約2時間弱で「えっ！ここが東京？」とビックリするくらいの美しい大自然に到着。

The cafe is 40 meters above the bottom of the valley where Tama River flows. You wouldn’t believe that such a beautiful place is just under two hours from Tokyo.

私のおすすめは、一番端っこの席。足元まである大きな窓を全開にすれば、ちょっと心臓がドキドキするくらいの断崖絶壁感を堪能できます。

My favorite seat is the corner. When you fully open the windows, you feel like you are dangling from the edge of the cliff.

ランチタイムには、ピザトーストをいただきました。お料理は野菜中心。無農薬、無添加の食材を取り入れた旬のメニューが楽しめます。

At brunch, I had pizza toast. They uses a lot of organic vegetables and ingredients. You can enjoy their seasonal menu without any additives.

テラス席の目の前にある橋を渡ると、白丸ダムまでゆっくりと渓谷を眺めながら歩けるハイキングコースに繋がっています。帰りがけには、お隣〈はとのす荘〉の露天風呂に寄るのもおすすめです。

In front of the terrace, there is a bridge connected to a hiking trail that leads to Shiromaru Dam. On your way home, be sure to visit the open air bath at the Hatonosu-so Hotel next door.
