TOKYOを飛び出し、2泊3日の旅へ出かけました。東京駅から電車と船を乗り継いで約4時間、向かったのは新潟県の離島「佐渡」です。
I went on a trip for two nights and three days. It took about 4 hours by train and ship from Tokyo Station to go to Sado Island.
新潟県の西にある佐渡島へ行ってきました。海沿いに建つ一軒家のベーカリーカフェ「しまふうみ」はブランチにもぴったり。
I went west of Niigata Prefecture to Sado Island. This seaside bakery and cafe "Shimafumi" is perfect for brunch.
島風味という名前の通り、佐渡の食材を使ったメニューが中心。パン以外にもサンドイッチやスイーツ、カレーライスまで充実しています。
"Shimafumi" means "Island Style" in Japanese. So, as their name implies, they use ingredients from the island. They have sandwiches, sweets, and curry rice as well as baked goods.
オーナーの松柴さんと1歳の息子くん。なんと松柴さん、私と同じ大学の同じ学部、さらには学科まで同じ先輩でした！ 今回みたいに旅先のお店で大学の先輩にお会いすることがよくあるのは、農学部ならではの嬉しい瞬間です。
This is the owner and his 1 year old son. The owner and I went to the same university and we also went through the same undergraduate program. Much like this time, I often bump into my old schoolmates when I am traveling. Because we studied agriculture, many of my classmates have started their own cafes and restaurants.
カウンターには焼けたばかりのパンがずらり。自家製酵母をベースに、毎日手作り。焼きたてを求めて、開店前から人が集まっていました。
There is freshly baked bread lined up on the counter. They make their own yeast every day. Many people come for the bread before the shop even opens.
7時から9時まで食べられる「朝食セット」。パン屋さんの隣に併設のゲストハウスに宿泊した方限定で提供しています。焼きたてのパンに野菜や卵をサンド。トマトスープとサラダ付き。
Breakfast is from 7 to 9. They have a guesthouse next to the bakery and make breakfast for people who stay there. They sandwich eggs and vegetables between slices of freshly baked bread.
暖かい季節なら、テラス席が最高。目の前に広がる真野湾を眺めながら、波の音、海風を感じてリゾート気分を満喫できます。
The terrace is perfect for warm weather. You can enjoy the sights, sounds, and ocean breeze from Mano Bay. It's like a resort!
併設のゲストハウスには、一軒家に最大6人まで宿泊できます。私も宿泊しましたが、昨年できたばかりで清潔&静かでとても居心地がよかったので、とってもオススメです。
The guesthouse can accommodate up to 6 people. It just opened last year and it's very quiet and very clean. I had a great time, so I highly recommend it.
